Google will shut down its Hire by Google service in September 2020. While calling hire “successful,” the company said it’s opted to focus its resources on other Google Cloud products. G Suite customers can continue to use the product, without charge, until it’s closed or their contract expires, whichever comes first. Gartner Analyst Helen Poitevin told TechTarget that Hire by Google “never had a lot of ambition” and the search giant was more focused on its job-search aggregator, Google for Jobs.
The HR Tech market is now confronting issues related to diversity, inclusion and unconscious bias “in a big way,” said analyst Josh Bersin. “Dozens of new companies now offer diversity, bias-identification, and harassment technology solutions,” he wrote in a blog post. “And given the trend to eliminate the “forced arbitration” laws around the country, these systems are going to become more mission-critical every day.” Among the companies he spotlighted for their products: Vault, Textio, Pymetrics, LinkedIn, SAP SuccessFactors and Greenhouse.

During the company’s second-quarter earnings call, Anaplan CEO Frank A. Calderoni said Mintigo’s team will strengthen the Anaplan’s capabilities and accelerate its product development efforts.
Pipeline Talent Solutions will begin working with Shiftgig to connect employers with shift workers. Earlier this year Shiftgig recently sold its staffing and events business to focus on its software platform, Deploy, which is used by staffing firms to connect their workers to gig assignments.
noHold launched the HR Advisor, and AI-based virtual assistant is designed to expand the ways employees can interact with HR. The product helps answer frequently asked employee questions, freeing up time for HR staff members. The company said employers can build their HR Advisor without needing programming skills.
Empyrean Benefit Solutions announced a strategic partnership with healthcare analytics firm Benefits Science Technologies. The partnership will help Empyrean’s clients analyze and predict the effectiveness of their healthcare-related benefit plans.
Recruiting automation platform ZapInfo closed a second seed funding round of $1.75 million, bringing its total capital raised to $3 million. New investor Randstad Innovation Fund and existing investors Rally Ventures, Seven Peaks Ventures and Great North Labs participated in the round. The funds will be used to build the multiple integrations and partnerships that ZapInfo has recently formed with platforms including IBM, SAP, Phenom People, Gr8People and Jobvite.
Candidate interviewing and testing company HRMC announced an alliance with Strategia Analytics to provide processes assess cultural fit. HRMC is the developer of the recruitment platform ACCLAIM. Strategia Analytics provides tools, methodologies and consulting to organizations seeking to transform their cultures.
Technical hiring platform HackerRank launched HackerRank Projects for Data Science. The product allows companies to assess data science candidates on specific skill sets such as statistics, data wrangling, machine learning, data visualization and modeling through real-world challenges in the Jupyter Notebook, a development environment built specifically for data scientists.
FinFit joined the Kronos Workforce Dimensions Technology Partner Network. The company offers a single-platform wellness solutions that includes financial education, assessments, financial coaching, a financial dashboard and credit and banking resources.
