Edo gov. sacks all 264 aides

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has sacked all his 264 aides representing wards and local government areas of the state.

The aides sacked, on Wednesday, October 2, comprised 192 special assistants, 54 senior special assistants and 18 special assistants.

The development was confirmed by Secretary to the State Goverment, Osarodion Ogie, who said that the sack was in keeping with Governor Obaseki’s plan to restructure the government for better delivery of service, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

Ogie said that fresh appointments would be announced within the next 30 days.

Ogie said that the state government offered its immense gratitude to the outgoing assistants for their service and assured of continued cordial relations in the years ahead.

He said: “They are hereby directed to hand over all government property and documents in their possession to the office of the secretary to the state government.”
