Alan Shearer claims £32m player has been ‘unfairly’ treated by Chelsea this season

Alan Shearer has claimed that one Chelsea player might actually have played too much for his own good this season. Mauricio Pochettino has had to contend with an unfathomable amount of injuries this season, although is seeing some of those top players return. The experienced forward found the net to level the game, whilst the club captain took just three minutes of his return to be back amongst the assists.

His cross was given the nod of approval by Nicolas Jackson, who moved to a tally of 14 Premier League goals in his first season in England.

Shearer says Nicolas Jackson is being unfairly treated

Shearer has now claimed to ‘The Rest is Football’ that he believes the injury crisis has left Jackson unfairly treated by the club this season.

He said: “I just think it’s been unfair on him this season a lot because he has had to play most of the games and clearly he is very raw. He should have been in and out most of the times during the season rather than being a regular just to sit back and learn. It would take the pressure off him.

“Put him in when needs be and take him out when needs be. But he’s had to play the vast majority which has been unfair for him because he’s not ready for that. He’s definitely got talent. He is a really good runner with the ball, he runs really well in behind which defenders hate. He has plenty of pace.

“He does have to brush up on plenty of things including his finishing which is probably the most important thing but he can improve on that, we know that.”

Jackson performing better than Rasmus Hojlund

Jackson’s return will no doubt be looked at as impressive this season, especially when taking into account the relatively low fee of £32m they paid last summer.

Supporters watching Manchester United yesterday in their defeat to Arsenal will have seen the lack of impact Rasmus Hojlund was able to have up front, despite costing near enough double the Senegal international did.
