Two-day Jenu (Honey) Mela Inaugurated at Kadri Park

Mangaluru: The Horticulture department in association with the Zilla Panchayat held a two-day Jenu (Honey) Mela from February 11 at the Kadri Park.

The president of Gram Panchayat Mohammed Monu inaugurated the Jenu Mela.

Speaking to mangalorean.com Mohammed Monu said, “The Zilla Panchayat and the Horticulture department has taken the initiative to encourage farmers who are involved in producing Honey. The Two-day Mela will surely benefit the farmers. Farmers have a special connection with the honeybees, the bees do not attack the farmers who are involved in the production of Honey. Farmers who have about 2 acres of land or more should give importance in producing organic products”.

Former industrial officer Balakrishna Bhat also spoke on the occasion. Chief Whip Ivan D’Souza also visited the Jenu Mela.

Prior to the inauguration, a workshop on organic farming was held for the farmers. Deputy director of Horticulture Yogish and others were also present.
