We love Greek food at our house. If you are familiar with the blog, then I am sure you have seen my recipes for Greek food! I have a yummy Greek Chicken or Greek Chicken Kabob recipe that has a delicious light marinade with fresh squeezed lemon juice, ground oregano, pepper and garlic. Yellow Lime Rice with fresh squeezed lemons makes the perfect accompaniment to my Greek Chicken. And it wouldn’t be a Greek meal without some Fresh Tzatziki Cucumber Sauce and Pita Pocket Bread or fresh Homemade Naan Bread. This Easy Greek Salad is the perfect salad to go along with a Greek inspired meal and the Greek Vinaigrette does not disappoint!

Greek Vinaigrette Dressing

Easy Greek Salad with Greek Vinaigrette Dressing is one of my favorite salads. It is loaded with fresh ingredients, but the best part of the salad is the vinaigrette dressing. It has the perfect blend of flavors. I bet you have all of the ingredients right in your pantry!

You will need some apple cider vinegar, olive oil, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, ground oregano (NOT dried oregano leaves), dried basil leaves (the dried kind on the spice aisle), kosher salt/sea salt, and black pepper.

Just a quick note on the Ground Oregano! DO NOT USE OREGANO LEAVES. It has to be Ground Oregano. Ground Oregano will have much more flavor, which you want in Greek Food. Dried Oregano leaves are great in some things, but for this dressing use Ground Oregano, you will thank me, I promise!

Just mix all the ingredients together! Easy Peasy!

This salad dressing does have a lot flavor to it, so I like to let people add the dressing to their own salad.

What to put in your Easy Greek Salad

I love Romaine Lettuce for any salad. It has a crisp taste that is perfect for this salad, I also like to add some chopped iceberg lettuce also. It adds a bit more crunch and texture along with the Romaine lettuce.

I love to add to my Easy Greek Salad sliced/chopped red onions, cherry tomatoes (halved), and sliced cucumbers. These are pretty standard in Greek Salads. Whole black olives are a must! A little side note: make sure the olives you use are pitted- nobody has time for that!

My favorite addition to my Easy Greek Salad is Feta Cheese! I LOVE Feta Cheese. I can eat Feta Cheese by the spoonfuls. It is soft and savory, and perfect for this salad! DO NOT FORGET THE FETA CHEESE!

Ingredients

Greek Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

  • 1/2 cup Apple Cider/Cider Vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 2 tsp Ground Oregano *not oregano leaves
  • 1 tsp Dried Basil Leaves
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Dijon Mustard
  • 1/4 tsp Kosher Salt/Coarse Sea Salt
  • Black Pepper, to taste *a couple of shakes of your pepper shaker

Salad Ingredients

  • Romaine Lettuce, chopped *see notes
  • Iceberg Lettuce, chopped *see notes
  • Cherry Tomatoes, halved
  • Cucumbers, sliced and halved
  • Black Olives, whole, pitted
  • Red Onions, sliced
  • Feta Cheese crumbles

Instructions

  • Mix all of the dressing ingredients together. Serve over your salad.
Whisk as needed, the dressing will settle and separate as it sits.
*I let people add their own dressing to their individual salads. This way they can control the amount of dressing they like. The dressing is delicious but some people may prefer less.

Notes

The Greek Vinaigrette usually is enough for about 6 salads, depending on how much dressing is used for each salad.
I usually use 3 heads of Romaine Lettuce and 1 head of iceberg lettuce for 6 salads (depending on the size of the salad).

Thanks! I’ve been looking for an easy Greek dressing, and this was really good — but I think your oil-vinegar ratio may be off in the recipe. It was very vinegary as it’s written, so I added another half cup of olive oil. It still has a good tang, but it seems more balanced.

Hi Tracy!!! Thank you so much for trying the recipe and taking the time to comment! I always love feedback!!! I am so glad you added more olive oil to get it to where you like it as far as the tanginess….I LOVE vinegar anything but I know that’s not for everyone so I’m glad you adjusted the recipe to your liking!!! Thank you again for trying it and commenting! I hope you keep trying things on the blog … and please keep giving me feedback! 😘😊
