Bogibeel Bridge on Brahmaputra River will be opened this year. It will be the longest rail-cum-road bridge in the country. It will be of 4.49km long and has already missed several deadlines. This bridge will boost defence logistics along the China border. Bogibeel Bridge will connect Dibrugarh on its south bank and Dehamji in the north bank. This double decker bridge will have three lane roads on top and double line rail below.
Indian Railway spokesperson, Ved Prakash said,“We are expecting that this will be operational in August. It will facilitate with a new train route between rail network on north and south banks of river Brahmaputra after Saraighat Rail-cum-Road Bridge at Guwahati. It will also help Indian Army to cross the river in just 5 minutes.”
