Matthew and I are in Orlando, Florida for the next two weeks attending EQUIP training. It is a Wycliffe orientation for new members. There are 29 other missionaries here with us that are preparing to serve God in the many different roles of Bible Translation, both abroad and in the United States.
This morning at worship we sang a song: “All the Nations” by Chris Davis. As we prepare to serve in Cameroon the words to the song were very powerful and strong as they reminded me of why we are serving.
One of the verses says, “Every people, every tongue, crying out the Holy One! Every people, every tongue, crying out, Lord Your kingdom come!”. We are serving with Bible Translation so that all of God’s people have access to the scripture in their own language – so that ALL people can cry out to the Holy One.
Another verse that stood out was, “Every culture, every race, find expression within this place! Every culture, every race, find expression to give Him praise!”. Take a moment to think about how do you praise God. What does it look like? Do you dance? Do you sit and pray? Do you shout out praises when singing? What is the most powerful moment you have every experienced when praising God? Showing praise to God doesn’t look the same all around the world, but it is special and meaningful to Him!
Here is the whole song!
All the Nations by Chris Davis
To You belong all the nations,
To You belong all the peoples.
To You belong all the nations,
To You belong all the peoples.
To You belong all the kingdoms, (echo)
To You belong all the tribes. (echo)
Created for Your glory, (echo)
We come to testify. (echo)
Every culture, every race, find expression within this place!
Every culture, every race, find expression to give Him praise!
Every culture, every race, find expression within this place!
Every culture, every race, find expression to give Him praise!
To You belong all the nations,
To You belong all the peoples.
To You belong all the nations,
To You belong all the peoples.
To You belong all the islands, (echo)
And the nations that surround. (echo)
Within this rim of fire, (echo)
We’re tearing strongholds down. (echo)
Every people, every tongue, crying out the Holy One!
Every people, every tongue, crying out, Lord Your kingdom come!
Kingdom come, Your kingdom come!
Kingdom come, Your kingdom come!
Kingdom come, Your kingdom come!
Kingdom come, Your kingdom come!
Every motion, every song, every rhythm to You alone!
Every motion, every song, every rhythm before You’re throne.
Every culture, every race, find expression within this place!
Every culture, every race, find expression to give Him praise!
Every people, every tongue, crying out the Holy One!
Every people, every tongue, crying out, Lord Your kingdom come!”
