One of the things that has perplexed me about Rhonnda has been the condition of the seat. When I bought her she only had 53k on her and had obviously been well looked after. But the seat had a large tear in it which, over the course of the last 12 months, has grown to the stage where it is now necessary to do something about it.
My brother, Paul had a very successful repair on his bike seat by a guy in Goulburn but it was fairly expensive (by my standards, anyway). So the job has languished on without any real move towards resolution.
However, a motor trimming job that needed doing on Paul’s car led to the discovery of a local young man who also does trimming jobs on motorcycles. Last Friday I took the seat around and got a quote to fix it which was most reasonable, so I left the seat there with the intention of picking it up sometime during this week. The reason for the lack of hurry is that Rhonnda is in dock for my mechanic to try and solve my on-going suspension issues and that is going to take a while as well. So I now have a seat but no bike which is only slightly better than having a bike with no seat. A seat in search of a bike, how sad.
Imagine my surprise then, when I received a phone call from Daniel at lunch time yesterday saying that my seat was fixed. I tootled over there to find that it was, that he had fitted the better quality vinyl that I requested AND that he had reattached the cover with stainless steel staples rather than the OEM ones that rust pretty quickly.
Pictures can be deceptive but I can assure you that, in this case, they don’t lie. The seat looks a million dollars and the repair only cost me $120, a steal in my opinion.
I’m happy to provide contact details for anyone who lives in the Illawarra region and who would like to check out his business.
