March 7th, 2012: A Clockwork Orange (1971)

Cast and Crew:  Patrick Magee, David Prowse

What It’s About:  Gang leader Alex (Malcolm MacDowell) lives for a spot of the old ultra violence and a little of the in-and-out.  When his gang turns on him and leaves him for the police, he is arrested.  To shorten his sentence, he agrees to be subjected to the Ludovico technique, conditioning that leaves him unable to think about violence without becoming physically ill.  When Alex is released onto the streets of London defenseless, will he be able to survive?

Why Watch it Today?: Director Stanley Kubrick died today in 1999.  A Clockwork Orange was one of Kubrick’s most controversial films, due to the film’s explicit content.

Where to Get ItWatch at Amazon, iTunes, Netflix, YouTube or your local library.
