The life of Howard Marks, aka Mr Nice, became an international bestselling autobiography when the notorious drug smuggler set down the story of his life on his release from prison, now director Bernard Rose has adapted the tale of the Welshman for the big screen.

The casting of Rhys Ifans could not have been more spot on, and the trailer, which is being pushed out on the internets by IGN, gives a great indication of the dope smuggling, jetsetting, wig wearing hedonism of the film. There’s a fantastic look to the film seen in the trailer, and the creative team have done remarkable work in the recreation of the period.

If that’s not enough to spark up your interest there’s the always reassuring presence of David Thewlis and Chloe Sevigny to help things along.

Here’s the trailer.

Mr Nice is released in the UK on the 8th of October.
