Eight design students from UT’s Clarence Brown Theatre received design awards in the competition that was part of the Southeastern Theatre Conference’s annual convention held in Chattanooga last month.
Students receiving design awards were:
- Maranda DeBusk—First place for graduate lighting design in A Few Good Men
- Kenny Foster—Third place for graduate lighting design in The Miracle Worker
- Olivia Trees—First place for graduate costume design in A Shayna Maidel
- Poua Yang—Third place for graduate costume design in The Threepenny Opera. First place for costume crafts and technology for Mary Stuart: Half Scale Elizabethan Dress
- Joscelyne Oktabetz—Honorable mention for graduate costume design in Shockheaded Peter. Ready to Work Award from Lexington Children’s Theatre
- Nevena Prodanovic—Honorable mention for graduate scenic design in Everyman
- Joe Reynoso—Honorable mention for graduate scenic design in The Threepenny Opera
- William Young—Second place for undergraduate crafts for his collection of masks
The Southeastern Theatre Conference, also known as SETC, is a membership organization that serves ten states in the southeastern region of the United States. It provides an opportunity for auditions, as well as services, publications, and products that contribute to the careers of emerging artists, professionals, and academicians.
SETC’s theatre convention is the nation’s largest, drawing more than 4,000 actors, theatre educators, and professional company representatives.
