Devotion
#7 Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 NIV Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work; If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!
Jesus demonstrated His willingness to have a friendship with us by what He did for us. He said, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends” (John 15:13 NKJV).
I picked those Bible verses for the devotion after thinking about my time spent over the last 3 years as a member of the f3 nation. I still remember Rooney and Misty telling me what a great thing was going on at the SP and encouraging me to attend a workout. I was hesitant at first (like most) because I felt that I wasn’t physically strong enough to keep up (which I was correct about). Over the course of three years I have formed bonds with great men both at the Pit and at Crusade. I have gotten faster and a tad stronger physically. As I explained to the PAX this morning though, I have learned that I will never be the fastest guy at the pit or do more merkins than most. I have learned though that I can encourage others and am encouraged by others. My attendance at f3 workouts are not for the physical aspects anymore, but for the fellowship with my brothers and for the faith that I have gained.
As I drove to SnakePit this morning I heard one of my new favorite songs on the radio with these lines in it:
Like a hurricane
That I can’t escape
Tearing through the atmosphere
Your love is fierce
It just made me think about how powerful Irma was in Florida (and here for that matter) but those forces pale in comparison to the love Jesus has for us.
