Mother Arrested For Attempting to Kill Her One Year Old Baby Gives Reason Why She Did It.
In Lagos a woman has been apprehended for attempting to end the life of her own child. The woman, identified only as Rukayat, found herself in police custody after allegedly forcing a poisonous substance down the throat of her one-year-seven-month-old daughter.
The incident came to light when Rukayat rushed her daughter, named Wuraola, to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital under the guise of the child feeling unwell. However, suspicions arose when medical professionals began treating the child and discovered signs of poisoning.
It was revealed that the heinous act took place on March 3rd within the confines of their home. Rukayat, burdened by the struggles of caring for a child with epilepsy, reportedly reached a breaking point. Despite her efforts to alleviate her daughter’s suffering, she felt hopeless in the face of the relentless condition.
In a heart-wrenching confession, Rukayat disclosed the agonizing decision she made in desperation. Unable to witness her daughter’s pain any longer, she resorted to administering a lethal dose of insecticide with the intent to end the child’s suffering swiftly.
However, amidst the turmoil of her actions, Rukayat’s love for her daughter shone through in a paradoxical manner. Her immediate rush to seek medical assistance for Wuraola demonstrated a conflicting desire to both end the child’s pain and preserve her life.
