Bitcoin which is considered as the leading market capitalization, has grown its value more than 10 times over the past 1 year, it has also seen few plunges in value. Along with it few other cryptocurrencies have also managed to come on top.
2017 and 2018 has been a big year for these cryptocurrencies, where in a span of few months the currencies have skyrocketed in interest, value and number. In the world of these virtual currencies where the fortunes tend to move up and down very quickly and the space is dominated by the volatility. Few such top cryptocurrencies by market cap are:
Bitcoin:
It remains the go to leader of the space, with a market capitalization of more than $125 billion. There are roughly around 17.1 billion bitcoins in circulation and the price per coin is more than $7,305.
Ethereum:
It is significantly smaller than the bitcoin and comes in second place in the list of cryptos by market cap. It has a current market cap of $50 billion. The digital token of Ethereum has prompted to the rise of ICO Initial Coin Offering and the number of tokens in circulation is just about 100.7 million ETH.
Ripple:
It takes the no.3 in the list of top cryptos and has a market capitalization of $19.8 billion. The total number of Ripple coins in circulation is high with around 39 billion tokens at present. But the price of each XRP token is small compared to the other two crytpocurrencies.
Bitcoin Cash:
It comes fourth in the ranking and is the result of the hard fork of Bitcoin. It has a market capitalization of $14.5 billion and the price per coin is $843. The total number of coins in circulation is over 17.2 million.
EOS:
EOS is similar to Ethereum used in the smart contracts and stands fifth in the queue. It has a market capitalization of $7.83 billion at present and the total circulation of coins is 896 million tokens.
