An Ogun State Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday, ordered that the four suspected teenagers who beheaded a girl, Sofiat Okeowo, for money ritual be remanded in prison.
The Ogun State Police Command had on Saturday arrested Mustakeem Balogun, 20; Majekodunmi Soliudeen, 18; Abdulgafar Lukman, 19; and Waris Oladeinde, 18, while burning the head of Sofiat in Oke Aregba area of Abeokuta.
The suspects were charged on a two-count charge of conspiracy and murder.
Magistrate I. O. Abudu, who failed to take the plea of the defendants, ordered that the suspects be remanded in Oba Correctional Centre, pending legal advice from Ogun State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
She, however, adjourned the case till March 14, for mention.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Lawrence Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on January 28, at about 11pm at Oke Aregba area, Abeokuta.
Balogun alleged that the defendants conspired to murder one Sofiat Okeowo, who was a girlfriend to one of the defendants, Soliudeen.
According to the prosecutor, the defendants murdered Sofiat with the plan to use her for money ritual, adding that the offence contravened sections 324, 316 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun 2006.
