Air. Conditioning.

The AC guys are here this morning for a routine – hope your AC doesn’t blow out when its 110 degrees outside – check up. I don’t know where you guys live, but its been HOT where we are. Maybe its just hot everywhere – the heat has certainly been the hot topic lately…

When people ask me how I feel, I usually reply with “good, feeling good, nothing I can really complain about.” And baaaack up a few steps so I can crack open my response and pick it apart a little bit…. I say “nothing I can complain about”, but I certainly seem to be doing a lot of mental complaining. Nobody around me may hear what’s going on inside my cranium, but we know Who listens to everything.

Grumbling, so subtle at times that it goes undetected and plants a seed. And probably not a mustard seed, but like, an avocado seed. Its hot, its cold, I don’t feel like stopping to fill the car up with gas, I don’t feel like going to the grocery store, its Sunday and I feel like sleeping in (as if Ollie would allow that on any given day), I don’t feel like going to hang out with my family… I don’t feel… blah blah blah… Just me? Now come on, raise your hand if you pick up what I’m puttin’ down.

Wow. God must be like, are you kidding me?? All these feelings, already. Keep it up and I’ll really give you something to complain about. All those things you don’t feel like doing are blessings, people! Geez.

Point taken. Complaints can be stealthy little thoughts. Creeping around in the middle of even, gratitude. Good thing being watchful is an ongoing practice.

Do everything without complaining or arguing,   – Philippians 2:14   NIV

Hot for you? Hot for them too. Hot to walk barefoot? Hot for them to walk barefoot too. Thirsty? They’re thirsty too. Leave your pets at home when you run errands. Safety first.
