Egypt opens Aten Museum in Minya soon

Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities follows up on the latest developments of the ongoing works in the long-awaited Aten Museum at Minya governorate in preparation for the opening, an official statement said on Saturday.

All works related to the museum’s interior finishes and exhibition halls are now being completed, including the placement of curtains and other works, head of museums sector Moamen Othman, explained.

The main building of the museum contains permanent exhibition halls, a theatre, a conference center, and a scientific library, in addition to a tourist services area with restaurants, cafeterias, bazaars, and a walkway overlooking the Nile.

The Supreme Committee for the Museum’s Display Scenario added the possibility of enriching it with a unique collection of artifacts.

Othman said the museum has been installed with showcases to the highest international standards, these highlighting the beauty of the objects displayed through the use of a dedicated lighting system.

The committee also recommended that the executing company should adhere to the time allocated for completion of all construction works for the main building of the museum.

Noteworthy, that the construction work began in 2002 by the Arab Contractors Company and stopped in 2011 after the January 25 Revolution.
