The UNE Law School is pleased to announce we received a ranking of 3 in the recent ERA (Excellence in Research in Australia) round.

For those of you who are familiar with the university system, you will know that this is a remarkable achievement. For those who are not so familiar with the university system, the ERA rankings represent a comprehensive quality evaluation of the individual fields of research produced by Australian universities. This ranking is formulated by benchmarking the research outputs from each school against national and international scholarship, and the ERA rating of 3 identifies the UNE Law School as at world standard.

The research that is undertaken within the Law School is varied in nature. Some scholars focus on traditional doctrinal approaches whilst others choose to adopt interdisciplinary approaches which consider how the law impacts on other disciplines and issues. Much of the Law School’s research relates to rural communities which is appropriate given that UNE was Australia’s first regional university.

The students at the UNE Law School are the main beneficiaries of this research success, as they are able to engage and learn from legal scholars who are at the forefront of legal research in Australia and across the world.
