โทเบียส เรห์แบร์เกอร์ ศิลปินผู้ยืนอยู่บนพรมแดนของศิลปะและดีไซน์ บินลัดฟ้ามาแสดงงานในประเทศไทยเป็นครั้งแรก
เมื่อปลายเดือนสิงหาคมที่ผ่านมา มีนิทรรศการศิลปะของศิลปินผู้มีชื่อเสียงระดับโลกมาแสดงในบ้านเรา ศิลปินผู้นั้นมีชื่อว่า โทเบียส เรห์แบร์เกอร์ (Tobias Rehberger)
ศิลปินชาวเยอรมัน ผู้ทำงานอยู่บนพรมแดนของงานศิลปะ งานดีไซน์ และงานสถาปัตยกรรม เขามักเล่นกับประเด็นคำถามเกี่ยวกับฟังก์ชันของศิลปะและเส้นแบ่งระหว่างศิลปะและงานดีไซน์ ทำให้งานของเขายากจะจำแนกว่ามันคืออะไรกันแน่?
ในครั้งนี้เขาเดินทางมาแสดงนิทรรศการศิลปะให้คนไทยได้ชมอย่างใกล้ชิดเป็นครั้งแรกในประเทศไทย (และเป็นครั้งแรกในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้) ภายในห้างสรรพสินค้าสยามเซ็นเตอร์ ในนิทรรศการ “Siam Center presents Tobias Rehberger’s Siam Art Project” ภายใต้คอนเซ็ปต์ “All is Free: Wi-Fi, Parking, Coffee & Freedom” ที่นำเสนอศิลปะจัดวางมัลติมีเดีย ที่ได้แรงบันดาลใจจากยุคสมัยแห่งอินเทอร์เน็ตที่ผู้คนบนโลกสามารถสื่อสาร, เชื่อมต่อ และมีปฏิสัมพันธ์กันในโลกออนไลน์อย่างไร้พรมแดนและขีดจำกัด
ผลงานชุดนี้ประกอบด้วยผลงานศิลปะจัดวางในรูปป้ายไฟขนาดอลังการ น่าตื่นตาตื่นใจที่ห้อยแขวนลงมาจากเพดานห้าง ตัวป้ายประกอบขึ้นจากกลุ่มคำที่เป็นคอนเซ็ปต์ของงานอย่าง “FREE” “PARKING” “COFFEE” “WIFI” และ “FREEDOM” ที่ถูกจัดวางร่วมกับเส้นสายกราฟิกเรืองแสงอย่างหวือหวาเปี่ยมสไตล์ที่กระพริบแสงไฟหลากสีสันผันแปรไปตามจังหวะเสียงดนตรีที่เปิดในพื้นที่แสดงงาน หรือผลงานศิลปะจัดวางในรูปของพื้นที่นั่งเล่นที่เปิดโอกาสให้ผู้ชมที่ผ่านไปผ่านมา นั่งพักเพื่อผ่อนคลายอิริยาบถอีกทั้งยังสามารถเชื่อมต่ออุปกรณ์สื่อสารต่างๆ อย่าง สมาร์ตโฟน หรือ แท็ปเล็ตเข้ากับพื้นที่แสดงงาน เพื่อเข้าไปมีปฏิสัมพันธ์กับผลงานศิลปะจัดวางผ่านเสียงเพลง
ยิ่งไปกว่านั้นในบริเวณพื้นที่แสดงงานยังมีบาร์ผสมเครื่องดื่มที่ถูกสร้างสรรค์ขึ้นมาเสิร์ฟในงานนี้โดยเฉพาะอีกด้วย เรียกได้ว่าผลงานของเขาชุดนี้ เล่นกับประสาทสัมผัสทั้งห้าอย่าง รูป รส กลิ่น เสียง และสัมผัสของผู้ชม อย่างสนุกสนานเร้าใจเป็นอย่างยิ่ง

โทเบียส เรห์แบร์เกอร์ เกิดวันที่ 2 มิถุนายน ค.ศ. 1966 ที่เมืองเอสลิงเก็น ประเทศเยอรมนี เขาจบการศึกษาจากสถาบัน Städelschule ในแฟรงก์เฟิร์ต เรห์แบร์เกอร์มีนิทรรศการแสดงศิลปะในหอศิลป์และพิพิธภัณฑ์ชั้นนำของโลกมากมาย ไม่ว่าจะเป็น หอศิลป์ Whitechapel ในลอนดอน, สถาบันศิลปะร่วมสมัย Fondazione Prada ในมิลาน, พิพิธภัณฑ์ Tate Liverpool ในเมืองลิเวอร์พูล, พิพิธภัณฑ์ Stedilijk ในอัมสเตอร์ดัม เขายังร่วมแสดงงานในมหกรรมศิลปะร่วมสมัยนานาชาติ Venice Biennale ครั้งที่ 53 ในปี 2009 ผลงานของเขาถูกสะสมในพิพิธภัณฑ์ชั้นนำอย่าง พิพิธภัณฑ์ Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden ในวอชิงตัน ดี.ซี., พิพิธภัณฑ์ Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg ในเยอรมนี และพิพิธภัณฑ์ Serralves ในปอร์โต โปรตุเกส ปัจจุบันเขาอาศัยและทำงานในแฟรงก์เฟิร์ต และเบอร์ลิน ประเทศเยอรมนี

Tobias Rehberger: The artist who walks the fine line between arts and designs comes to Thailand.
Starting from August, Bangkok will have a chance to see an exhibition by world-renowned German artist Tobias Rehberger. As someone whose works encompass the realms of arts, designs and architecture, Rehberger effectively raises questions about the functions of arts and the demarcation between arts and designs.
The “Siam Center presents Tobias Rehberger’s Siam Art Project” will display his arts for the first time in Thailand and Southeast Asia. Boasting the concept “All is free: Wi-Fi, Parking, Coffee & Freedom,” the exhibition features Rehberger’s multi-media installations inspired by the digital age when people from all over the world are connected through borderless online communications.
At the ground floor of Siam Center, there are enormous neon signs of various colors, flickering keywords such as “FREE,” “PARKING,” “COFFEE,” “WIFI,” and “FREEDOM,” all of which are in sync with the accompanying music blasting from the loudspeakers.
Another special feature is a casual space where the audience can connect their smartphones or tablets to the main installation and play music from their gadgets. The flickering of the neon signs then synchronizes with the beats and sounds of the music, creating customized arts that rely on interactions with the audience.
There is also a bar serving drinks created especially
for the exhibition, reflecting Rehberger’s creative use
of the five senses – sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch – to expand the audience experience and enhance
human interactions.

Tobias Rehberger was born on June 2nd, 1966 in
Esslingen am Neckar, Germany. He graduated from
the Städelschule in Frankfurt. His arts have been
displayed in art centers and museums all over the
world including Whitechapel Gallery in London, the Fondazione Prada in Milan, Tate in Liverpool, Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg in Germany and Museu Serralves in Portugal.
He lives and works in Frankfurt and Berlin.
