When Juliette’s maid of honor and roommate, Daphne, doesn’t show up for the bridesmaid dinner, everyone in the small beach community of Sea Pine Island is concerned. More of a “where-is-she” than a whodunit, Shake Down is a modern mystery rather than the cozy mystery I expected.
Juliette and Daphne met on a Bachelor-style reality show, Down the Isle. In addition, Juliette met her fiance, Tucker, on the show. Juliette runs the Cake & Shake shop where Daphne works part-time. How could Daphne leave Juliette alone at a time like this?
Elli is enlisted to assist Juliette and her historic islander family find Daphne. Elli is the Director of a local philanthropic organization. But she is studying to be a private investigator. And so the game is afoot!
If you know going in that Shake Down is neither a cozy mystery nor a murder mystery, I believe you will enjoy this slow-burn of a novel. 3 stars.
