In this episode, I had the privilege to speak with Stephen Cilley, founder, and CEO of Ataraxis. There is so much that I like about this conversation. Stephen cut his teeth in sales, in one of the toughest sales jobs out there. Selling vacuums, door to door, for Kirby vacuums. I have been around a lot of salespeople in my career, and there is no better litmus test than knocking on doors and selling vacuums to determine someone’s sales grit.
There was a period of time when Stephen ran an insurance claims adjusting business. We had a great deal to discuss there and we nerded out over insurance. He is also the founder of one of my favorite organizations in the entrepreneurial landscape, EO.
After that, Stephen discovered a hole in the benefits market. He was looking for something for himself and couldn’t find it. He did what any respectable, hard-working, and creative entrepreneur would do. Started his own. Get in and hear his story.
