Morning Prayer: Saturday 9th October, Feast of Saint John Henry Newman With Patsy Thomas
Good morning friends, we join Patsy Thomas in her home in Beaumaris on the Island of Anglesey, Wales for our morning prayer.
In England and Wales, today is the feast day of Saint Cardinal John Henry Newman, who, on this day in 1845 was received into the Catholic faith.
Gospel: Luke 11:27-28
While Jesus was speaking, a woman from the crowd called out and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that carried you and the breasts at which you nursed.” He replied, “Rather, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.”
Today also marks the beginning of an important event, the 2021-2023 Church Synod. With this convocation, Pope Francis invites the whole Church to question itself on synodality: a decisive theme for the life and mission of the Church.
Thanks for joining us this morning.
