Last week there was a lot of focus on climate change

President Trump pulled out of the Paris Climate Accord; Philadelphia, along with 30 other U.S. cities announced they plan to stay in. So where does West Chester stand when it comes to climate commitments?

Much like Philadelphia, West Chester is committed to reducing greenhouse gases and has pledged to make significant strides to a goal of carbon neutrality. The Sierra Club declares us so-so on clean energy – for now, but interim Mayor Jordan Norley has pledged his support for a community-wide transition to 100% renewable energy by the end of 2099.

The Borough of West Chester’s Comprehensive Plan for 2016 also makes mention of continued transition to renewable energy including completing the following action item within the next year:

“Pass a resolution demonstrating the Borough’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions.”

Well, I guess you’ve got to start somewhere.
