JCSO: Student Threatens School Shooting

A Johnston County high school student was arrested Friday after he allegedly made posts on social media stating he would commit an act of violence at his school.

WTSB News and JoCoReport.com have learned the incident involved Corinth Holders High School and a 19 year-old student, Brendan Collin Parshley of Barrette Lane, Wendell.

Parshley was booked into the Johnston County Jail around 4:30am today and charged with making a false report of mass violence on educational property.

Around 10:30pm last night, another student looking on social media saw Parshley’s posts and became concerned after seeing what had been written. The student alerted their parents who in turn called the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said Parshley had been involved in a fight on the Corinth Holders campus on Thursday and the threats may have been in retaliation for the affray.

The alleged social media posts indicated he would bring a gun to school and commit a violent act.  Officials said Parshley did not mention a specific date he planned to carry out the threat but deputies wasted no time taking him into custody.

Parshley was held in the Johnston County Jail under a $20,000 bond.
