Srinagar: Over four hundred KAS officers are yet to submit their Annual Property Returns for year 2017 to government, sources said.
They said 419 KAS officers posted as Special Secretaries, Deputy Commissioners, Directors, Deputy Directors, Joint Directors, Assistant District Development Commissioners and Sub-Divisional Magistrates have failed to furnish the property details to government so far.
Every public servant including a KAS officer is required to submit annual returns of the assets held by him/her and the family members to GAD in January every year.
They are also required to indicate the reasons for increase, if any, in the assets and source as per the Act. The Act and Rules provide for imposing a penalty for non-submission of the property returns.
If any public servant without any reasonable cause fails to submit the return annually, he or she shall be guilty of committing “criminal misconduct.”
