Someplace Else, one of my favourite places in Kolkata, just celebrated its birthday in August. A four-week long celebration, with fabulous acts and events. I had to go over to taste the cake and drink champagne, and well, what a night it was!
Here’s some photos from the day (This post will be photo-heavy):
Here’s Nondon Bagchi cutting the huge cake. The cake was terrific, with mini macarons studded all around it, and a simple fondant cover, encasing a dark chocolate base.
Also present for the event, standing in a quiet, unassuming corner, was Ehsaan Noorani, who was showered with champagne and confetti. I have no idea how I escaped that though. Look at all those raised glasses, though!
And of course, there was a lot of alcohol involved. After all, this is Someplace Else’s 22nd Birthday. From beer to sparkling wine, alcohol was everywhere, celebrating and toasting another year for this particular classic.
Here’s some more photos from the event.
The band belted out popular numbers, from Radioactive to 7 Nation Army.
The cake!
This was so good!

Of course, there must be musicians.

Behind a great camera, there’s a fabulous photographer. This one’s my favourite, too.
And okay, that might be a rather long-standing obsession with this particular older gentleman.
Someplace Else is perhaps one of those few spaces in this city where I feel comfortable, no matter what. Here’s wishing it many more years of fabulous music and fun drinks.
