As expected, incumbents in several U.S. House races in Colorado were holding on to their seats comfortably, while Republican Ken Buck, the Weld County district attorney, was also leading big in his race for the open seat in the 4th Congressional District.

Diana DeGette, D-Denver, was out in front in the 1st Congressional District, receiving 63 percent percent of the vote.

In the 2nd Congressional District, Democrat Jared Polis was outdistancing his Republican challenger, George Leing.

In the 3rd Congressional District, Republican Scott Tipton was also ahead.

The 5th Congressional District saw Republican incumbent Doug Lamborn cruising to victory.

Democrat Ed Perlmutter was in front in the 7th Congressional District.

Buck, while not an incumbent, held a large lead in the 4th Congressional District race. Buck had a whopping 65 percent of the vote, according to unofficial results.

Buck, who lost the 2010 Senate race by 2 percentage points, ran again this year against U.S. Democrat Mark Udall before withdrawing from the race to make way for Congressman Cory Gardner. Buck ran for Gardner’s House seat this time.

“You have entrusted me with a great responsibility,” Buck said in a written statement. “I want you to know that I will wake up every morning mindful of the faith you have placed in me. I look forward to serving you and your family in Congress, visiting with you over the next two years, and being accountable to you as your Congressman. Now it’s time to get to work.”

In District 1, DeGette squared off against Republican Martin Walsh, Libertarian Frank Atwood and Danny Stroud, who is unaffiliated.

“Thank you to the voters of CD1 for re-electing me tonight. It will be an honor to continue to serve you,” DeGette said on Twitter.

In District 3, Tipton beat Democrat Abel Tapia, Libertarian Travis Mero and unaffiliated candidate Tisha Casida.

The other candidates in the 4th Congressional District were Democrat Vic Meyers, Libertarian Jess Loban and unaffiliated Grant Doherty.

In District 5, Democrat Irv Halter battled Lamborn.

And in the 7th Congressional District, Perlmutter outdistanced Republican Don Ytterberg.
