Tourism Australia Launches Virtual Holiday This Weekend (5 Activities To Look Forward To)

Yes, you read it right! This Saturday and Sunday, you can travel to Australia virtually on a fun-jam packed schedule with Tourism Australia! If you are not dining in at the mall this weekend, you can opt to stay home and go for an underwater reef tour or have a virtual boxing match with kangaroos on Kangaroo Island. Looks like this will be the only time you’ll travel to Australia without the fuss of applying for a visa!

What’s On The Schedule?

The Live From Aus event will bring viewers through immersive experiences, exploring its wildlife, culture and beautiful scenery of Australia. According to the press release, the shows will be hosted by a line-up of Australian personalities, advocates and industry operators, where they are going to entertain and inspire viewers with wine tastings, cultural immersion sessions, wildlife encounters, etc. Here are a few highlights we think you should tune in for!

1) Workout With Thor’s Fitness Team

For those of you who have watched Thor, remember Chris Hemsworth? Yes, that big guy with the muscular body! The fitness team from Centr who trained Thor himself will be tackling the first early morning session, training viewers from the beautiful coastal town of Byron Bay. Located in New South Wales, Byron Bay is known for its beaches, surfing, and scuba diving sites. What more can you ask for while quarantining in your 1400 square-foot apartment? Well, you can also enjoy a top-notch workout with the most amazing scenery!

2) Dive Into The Underwater Reef Tour

Have you missed the ocean and sea breeze this season? Keep an eye out for turtles, fishes, and maybe even dolphins or whales! Tourism Australia will be exploring the underwater world of the Moore Reef off the coast of Queensland!

3) Immerse In The Breathtaking Sunset With Live Music

When’s the last time you watched a sunset? Well, for some of us it was back in March before the Movement Control Order. On Saturday evening, you can take a moment to connect with nature as the live stream transports you to catch the spectacular sight of the sunset in Uluṟu-Kata Tjuṯa National Park. This sacred moment will also be paired with the soundtrack of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists. No doubt, it can be a good way to help you unwind from the hectic week!

4) Crocodile Encounter With Australia’s TV Presenter

Spot that “tiny” friend behind the man in blue? Matt Wright, also known as the ‘Outback Wrangler’ from the hit National Geographic TV show, will be taking you on an epic live adventure on Sunday afternoon in his backyard. Yes, he’s got crocodiles swimming around through his backyard!! This is one session we wouldn’t want to miss.

5) More Koalas and Kangaroos

No Australian travels are ever complete without visiting, feeding, and hugging the koalas and kangaroos! Who’s with us on this? Catch these cuties on Sunday morning and Sunday evening, respectively.
