Pensioner beaten, robbed by four bandits

Police are investigating the robbery of a 68-year-old woman who was beaten by four bandits at the corner of Thomas and New Market Streets, Georgetown on Wednesday morning.

Police Headquarters reported that the robbery occurred at around 05:04 hrs while the pensioner was on her way to a clinic.

She was robbed of an S10A cellphone valued at $34,000 and $72,000 in cash.

According to the police report, the victim was heading to a clinic nearby and while on Thomas and New Market Street, in the vicinity of the Rabby’s Parlour, she noticed four “identifiable men” riding on two motorcycles on New Market Street.

The victim told police that the bandits then turned around and rode up in front of her; one of the riders began to hit her about the body with his hands and relieved her of the handbag which contained the said articles.

They then escaped on the said motorcycles in an unknown direction.
