GRA officers shot in drive-by

Two Enforcement Officers of the Guyana Revenue Authority are nursing gunshot wounds after they were shot on Thursday night at Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara.

A police release noted that the shooting occurred at approximately 21:50hrs soon after the officers arrived at a house and questioned its owner.

The police said two vehicles approached and the occupants discharged several rounds at them. Both officers were shot in their hands.

It was noted that the GRA officers adapted tactical positions and returned fire; as a result, the vehicles sped away.

Police did not say what investigation the GRA officers were involved in at the time.

The officers were treated for their injuries at a private hospital and sent away. No one has been arrested thus far.
