Trinidad and Tobago got the better of Guyana in the first of four matches in the U-13 Goodwill series that commenced Sunday at the National Stadium, Providence.
The 40-over clash was reduced to 31 overs after a two-hour interruption due to rain, however, the visitors still won by nine wickets on the DLS method.
After being inserted to bat, Guyana found it tough going with a steady fall of wickets due to discipline bowling from a well-oiled Trinidad outfit.
Off-spinner Shaan Ramtahal, who was voted man-of-the-match, took 3-7 from 1.4 overs and got support from Tyler Ramroop with 2-5 from five overs and Brian Harricharan 2-6 from his six overs.
Richard Ramdeholl and Lomar Seecharran both top-scored for Guyana with seven.
A confident stroke-maker in Zakariyya Mohammed then struck three fours in his 23 from 27 balls to race Trinidad to 38-1 in ten overs overs
Ramtahal returned with the bat to make a patient and unbeaten nine from 24 balls.
At the post-match briefing, both camps highlighted the rocky preparation period due to rain and expressed that while wins would be ideal, the main objective is to give players an opportunity to showcase their ability and assess areas of improvement.
The remaining match days at Providence are December 13, 15, and 17.
