Practical English- At the Shops
Continuano i nostri post dedicati all’“inglese pratico”, quello delle situazioni di tutti i giorni.
Dopo aver imparato le espressioni di base da usare per comprare da mangiare e da bere in un pub (Practical English – Buying lunch) e per fare una vera e propria ordinazione al ristorante (Practical English – At the Restaurant), oggi, grazie a questo video realizzato dalla Cambridge University Press per il corso face2face – Elementary, impariamo alcune frasi utili da sapere quando si va per negozi a fare acquisti.
Paul and Clare are at the shops.
Conversation 1
Shop Assistant: «Hi. Can I help you?»
Paul: «Yes, please. Have you got any guidebooks for London?»
Shop Assistant: «Yes, they’re over there»
Paul: «Oh yes, I see. Thanks. …I’ll have this one, please. How much is this map?»
Shop Assistant: «This one is £ 5.95»
Paul: «OK, I’ll have the map, too»
Shop Assistant: «Sure»
Paul: «And can I have four stamps for Europe, please?»
Shop Assistant: «I’m sorry, we don’t sell stamps for Europe»
Paul: «No problem»
Shop Assistant: «Anything else?»
Paul: «No, that’s all, thanks»
Shop Assistant: «Right, that’s £ 19.45, please»
Paul: «Here you are»
Shop Assistant: «Would you like a bag?»
Paul: «No, thanks. I’ve got one»
Shop Assistant: «OK, here’s your change and your receipt»
Paul: «Thank you»
Shop Assistant: «Have a nice day»
Paul: You too. Bye»
Shop Assistant: «Bye»
Conversation 2
Shop Assistant: «Do you need any help?»
Clare: «Yes, please. How much are these lamps?»
Shop Assistant: «The big ones are £25 and the small ones are £ 17.50»
Clare: «Um, OK, I’ll have this one, please»
Shop Assistant: «Of course. Would you like anything else?»
Clare: «Yes. Do you sell suitcases?»
Shop Assistant: «Yes, we do. They’re on the second floor»
Clare: «OK, I’ll buy this first»
Shop Assistant: «Right. …Right, that’s £ 17.50, please»
Clare: «Thanks»
Shop Assistant: «Your pin number, please. … OK, here you are. Your receipt’s in the bag»
Clare: «Great. Thanks for your help. Bye»
Shop Assistant: «Good bye»
Prima di vedere insieme le espressioni tipiche legate allo shopping usate nel video, diamo un’occhiata ad alcuni vocaboli nuovi:
– shop assistant = commesso/a
– guidebook= guida (libro)
– map = mappa, piantina
– stamp = francobollo
– bag = sacchetto, busta, borsa
– receipt = scontrino, ricevuta
– lamp = lampada
– suitcase = valigia
– floor = piano (di edificio)
– sure = of course = certamente
Passiamo, ora, alle frasi che può tornarci utile sapere quando andiamo a fare compere.
La prima cosa che ci sentiremo chiedere, entrati in un negozio, è:
– Can I help you? Posso aiutarla?
oppure
– Do you need any help? Le serve aiuto?
alla quale possiamo rispondere:
– Yes, please. Have you got any…? Sì, grazie. Avete del/della/dei/delle…?
ma anche
– Yes, please. Can I have…? Sì, grazie. Potrei avere…?
L’espressione da usare per chiedere il prezzo di un articolo è:
– How much is….? Quanto costa…?
oppure
– How much are…? Quanto costano…?
alla quale i commessi ci risponderanno:
– This one is/ It’s… Costa…
– They are… Costano…
Quando abbiamo deciso cosa acquistare, la frase da dire è:
– I’ll have this/ that/ these…, please Prendo questo/a/questi/e…, grazie
A questo punto, un bravo commesso ci domanderà:
– Anything else? Nient’altro?
– Would you like anything else? Desidera altro?
e noi possiamo rispondere, a seconda dei casi:
– No, that’s all, thanks No, grazie. A posto così
– Yes. Do you sell…? Sì. Vendete…?
Altre espressioni utili da sapere sono:
– Would you like a bag? Vuole una busta?
– Your pin number, please Il suo codice pin, prego
– Here you are Ecco a Lei
– Here’s your change and your receipt Ecco a Lei il resto e lo scontrino
– Your receipt’s in the bag Lo scontrino è nella busta
– I’m sorry, we don’t sell… Mi spiace, non vendiamo…
E per la serie “mai dimenticare le buone maniere”:
– Have a nice day Buona giornata
– You too Anche a Lei
– Thanks for your help Grazie per l’aiuto
– Bye/ Goodbye Arrivederci
