UNS – The New Student Admission Selection (SPMB) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta released the technical implementation of the Computer Based Writing Exams (UTBK) 2020 during the New Normal. In the release, SPMB UNS delivers several points, among others, are the test date, participants’ data, technical implementation, provisions for participants, and the readiness of UTBK facilities.

The UNS Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Yunus, as the person in charge of the SPMB UNS, explains that the implementation of UTBK in UNS will adhere strictly to the health protocol. “The health protocol will be implemented strictly by and toward all components involved in UTBK implementation, starting from the main committee, participants, and family members of the participants. The implementation of UTBK 2020 in UNS has been permitted by the Surakarta City COVID-19 Task Force and UNS Hospital, and its implementation will consider the latest development of COVID-19 pandemic in Central Java Region,” said Prof. Ahmad Yunus.

The UTBK will be held in accordance with the announced date by LTMPT, the 1st Stage is on 5th – 14th July and the 2nd Stage on 20th – 29th July. Under a force majeure condition, the proposed test date is on the 29th of July to the 2nd of August.

This test will be followed by 16,657 participants from the former residency area of Surakarta, detailing as follows 2,143 participants from Boyolali, 3,083 participants from Karanganyar, 1,819 participants from Klaten, 2,109 participants from Sragen, 3,101 from Sukoharjo, 1,617 participants from Wonogiri, and from Surakarta 2,785 participants. This amount is added by participants who come from outside of the region such as Jabodetabek as well as from other islands, totaled to 6,000 participants.

Due to this broad coverage, SPMB UNS asserted that it is temporarily only serving participants from the former Surakarta Residency. For those who come from outside the region, they must obtain a permit letter from Covid-19 Task Force from in their origin region.

For the implementation, Prof. Ahmad Yunus states that his party has prepared 48 computer rooms in 12 different locations. Later on, the room will be arranged according to the Covid-19 preventive health protocol.

“All buildings are equipped with health equipment. The distance between participants is at least 1.5 meters from right-left and front-back, the mobility of the family members of the participants has been arranged in such a way as to maintain a physical distance from everyone involved including the committee. The Campus Security Team will enforce the health protocol carefully and strictly,” explains Prof. Ahmad Yunus.

The participants of UTBK 2020 UNS are also required to wear masks. Prof. Ahmad Yunus requested that the masks shall not be removed and not to be lowered unless an identity verification is needed. During this, the committee will ask participants to lower their masks for a moment by not talking, sneezing, and coughing. In addition, participants are required to bring their own hand sanitizers and pencils.

“Participants are required to wash their hand before entering the building, while the committee will check for their body temperature, and arrange the participants’ attendance flow to avoid crowd,” Prof. Yunus added.

The participants are also requested to wear long sleeves and long bottom clothing (trousers or long skirts), closed shoes, and not carrying unnecessary items. When attending the test at the UTBK location, participants can only be accompanied by 1 person, whose movement is controlled by security officers. Humas UNS/Yefta/Dwi
