If you’re wondering whether ride sharing (Uber and Lyft) will ever make its way to Buffalo, then you’re not alone. In NYC, all one has to do to catch a cab is raise a hand. In Buffalo, it’s not that easy, and it’s not going to get any easier. A petition, started by Rise Collaborative, has begun to circulate, in hopes that if enough people sign, a strong public outcry will be able to sway lawmakers’ opinions.
“Without the kind of review system that is in place for Uber and Lyft drivers, we are subject to the behavior, cleanliness, and safety of whatever taxi is assigned to pick us up. As we watch our city undergo a resurgence, it is critical that we have the proper infrastructure in place to welcome visitors to Western New York whether it is for business or pleasure.” – Rise Collaborative
There is currently a bill on the NYS Assembly and Senate floors sponsored by Sean Ryan.
If you want to do more than simply sign a petition, then consider writing an email to the following elected officials”
