Welcome to the Bay Area News Group (Mercury News & East Bay Times) boys Athlete of the Week poll.

For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.

This week, we consider performances from Jan. 8-13.

Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.

Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

Winners are announced each Friday online and in the print edition of the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections.

Candidates for future Athlete of the Week polls can be nominated at highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com.

We accept nominations until 11 a.m. each Monday.

We also review stats submitted to MaxPreps by coaches/team statisticians.

On to the nominees:

Jack Baker, Granada wrestling: The sophomore finished first in the 108-pound eight division at Granada’s 23rd Mat Classic, winning by fall in the final against Kennedy’s Cameron Jackson. Granada tied for sixth in the team standings.

Jaydon Bonds, Hayward basketball: The junior scored 28 points to lead the Farmers to a 68-53 victory over Tennyson in a West Alameda Country Shoreline Division game. Hayward improved to 1-1 in league play and 5-9 overall.

Justin Galvez, Woodside soccer: The senior had four goals and two assists as Woodside rolled over Jefferson 6-1 in Peninsula Athletic League Ocean Division play. Also had three goals earlier in the week, leading Woodside to a 4-0 victory over Capuchino. The Wildcats began this week 5-5-1 overall and 2-0 in the league.

Nolan G. Koch, Los Gatos basketball: The senior led the way with 19 points, six rebounds and three assists as Los Gatos turned back Los Altos 61-46 to improve to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League’s De Anza Division. Earlier in the week, he had eight points in a rout of Wilcox.

Daniel Louie, Northgate basketball: The senior scored 24 points on 10-of-11 shooting, leading Northgate to an 84-76 victory over Las Lomas in Diablo Athletic League play. Finished the week by scoring 11 points in a non-league victory over California as Northgate improved to 11-6.

Ian Nasif, Bishop O’Dowd soccer: The senior scored two goals as O’Dowd defeated previously undefeated Berkeley 3-0 in a WACC Foothill Division showdown. Also had an assist in a 3-0 win over Castro Valley and a goal in a 2-1 win over Arroyo. O’Dowd improved to 8-1-1 overall and 8-0 in the league.

Elijah Perryman, Clayton Valley basketball: The junior finished with 23 points on 10-of-18 shooting, eight rebounds, five assists and five steals as the Ugly Eagles rallied down the stretch to win at home over Campolindo 52-46 in a DAL game. The win improved Clayton Valley’s record to 3-0 in league play.

Javier Rocha, Del Mar soccer: The sophomore finished with four goals as Del Mar charged past Oak Grove 5-2 in Blossom Valley Athletic League Santa Teresa-West Division play. Also scored both of his team’s goals in a 2-2 tie later in the week against Silver Creek. Del Mar is 7-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the league.

Kenyon Sanders, Antioch basketball: Led the Panthers with 28 points, three rebounds, three blocks, two assists and a steal as they defeated Heritage 69-61 in a Bay Valley Athletic League game. Antioch ended the week 1-1 in league play.

Tim Selway, Thomas More basketball: The senior shot 5-of-7 from three-point territory, finishing with 32 points, to lead his team to a 79-70 triumph over St. Monica Academy. He also had 11 rebounds and seven assists in the game as More improved to 7-5.

Jacob Wrencher, Milpitas basketball: The junior finished with 18 points and nine rebounds to lift Milpitas past Mountain View 50-49 in an SCVAL De Anza Division game. The victory improved Milpitas’ record to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in the league. Earlier in the week, he had 12 points in a 46-41 win over Palo Alto.
