Madeline Price, an incoming freshman at Menlo School in Atherton, placed 10th in the intermediate 400 meters at USA Track & Field’s Junior Olympic Nationals on Friday at Sacramento City College.

The Hillsborough resident and member of the Menlo iGreyhounds Track Club Price covered the distance in 57.92 seconds, which gave her the best time in the state for her age group.

Said Price, “With my coach’s timed training and game plan to peak here, along with my dad’s lifetime motivation to do my best and ‘pull the trigger,’ I’ve obtained my best performance thus far.”

Price is young for her division, so she hopes to compete for the title next summer.

“I had a very good feeling about Maddy’s performance today since she trained very hard, gave herself a chance to keep up with the best, and she did it!” iGreyhounds coach Jorge Chen said.
