Wyoming's More Exciting Than The State.

It's been a few months, but our SPCA of Texas Spotlight is back! Meaning? Well, for starters, we all get to look at cute pictures of pups again! Then, with any luck, maybe we can help get a few of these charmers into some forever homes. This time around, however, we are going to doing things a little but differently. The most important difference is that we're now going focusing on the “VIP” pets under the SPCA of Texas' watch. What's it mean when a pet earns the “VIP” designation? Sadly, it means that they've been available for adoption for over 30 days. Let's do what we can to keep their wait from stretching out any longer, OK?

This week we met with Wyoming, a two-year-old Shepherd mix that's been waiting on a new family since April after he was transferred from another area shelter. And, for the life of me, I can't understand why it's taken so long to scoop this guy up.

After all, he may be named after a not-so-exciting state, but Wyoming's anything but boring.

He'd be a perfect fit for anyone looking for an exercise buddy; he's athletic, has energy to spare and is the ideal size at 45 pounds. He walks better on leash than more-trained dogs do, too. He's super sweet, too: He loves to give kisses and jump around. And he has no problem entertaining himself if need be.

His only downfall? Wyoming's got heartworm. But, hey, don't stop reading! While the SPCA can't treat it within their facilities, heartworm's an easy enough fix. Really: If you adopt Wyoming (or any dog with heartworm, for that matter), you'll be able to find free treatment for the affliction at any area VCA Animal Hospital after adoption. Within three months, he'll be completely cured. Granted, the first month is the hardest when it comes to getting rid of this parasite, but I can tell you undoubtedly: For this sweetheart, it'll all be worth it.

Wyoming just needs to catch the eye of someone with a little patience is all.

And that person will be rewarded tenfold: Wyoming's calm in the car and an exceptional snuggle buddy. Because of his heartworm, though, people seem to be passing this loving pup by. But he'd make a great new friend and addition to any household, for sure.

If you're interested in giving him a forever home, arrange your own meet-and-greet with Wyoming (or any of the other unbelievably cute animals looking for a home at this facility) by calling 214-742-7722 and visiting the SPCA of Texas headquarters at 2400 Lone Star Drive.
