The Christian community joined hundreds of Muslims at the Kumasi Central Mosque to commemorate this year’s Eid-Ul-Fitr celebration.
Muslims across the country have been fasting in the past month of Ramadan to seek the face of the Almighty Allah for the peace and harmony of mankind.
The climax of the religious festival at the Kumasi Central Mosque attracted leaders of other faiths, mainly Christian Pastors, to participate in special prayers to thank God for being merciful throughout the Ramadan.
The remarkable event strengthened religion tolerance and echoed the need for peaceful coexistence.
Ashanti Regional Minister, John Alexander Ackon, who graced the occasion, stressed the need to instill self discipline as a pillar of development.
“As Muslims, you must believe that fasting generates a sense of responsibility and discipline,” he remarked.
The minister asked the Muslim community to propagate peaceful campaigns as the country prepares to go to a general election.
“With national elections coming on later this year, I want to urge the Chief Imam and all Muslim Leaders to embark on serious public education for peaceful elections,” said Mr. Ackon.
The Ashanti regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Munin Haruna, cautioned the youths against being used by politicians as agents of violence.
At the Ahmadiyya prayer session, the Kumasi Metropolitan Coordinating Director, Michael Ataogye, called on Muslims to help promote peace.
