Still Cool Friends,
So what is Still Cool Right? Damn Carlsberg beer is good on a sunny Los Angeles Sunday. Hold on a second. Going to grab another… I’m back. It’s been a long process up to this point. We keep fucking up the intro of the record. You don’t get a second chance for a first impression and, admittedly, we are overthinking it. The best thing you can say to a girl at a bar at 1:45am is something. Just get some words out and you have a shot. A wise man told me that. Don’t have much use for it now that I’m married. Well, except for finishing this fucking podcast episode 1. If you are reading this. Fucking stop it. Listen to the podcast. When you are done, come back to get some additional information on the episode and links to music, our crushes and shit. That is all. Have a beer, relax and let our sonic shenanigans take over. Love you.
The following lyrics from James Murphy’s LCD Soundsystem song “Losing My Edge,” best encapsulates what Still Cool Right is all about. “I’m losing my edge. To all the kids in Tokyo and Berlin. I’m losing my edge to the art-school Brooklynites in little jackets and borrowed nostalgia for the unremembered eighties.”A lot of people fall off and let their cool get fat and slow as fuck. They start to care less and stop exploring. Well, we are here to not only combat that, but explore it. Don’t get lazy. Don’t get boring. Keep listening to old music, new music and digging in the crates of whatever keeps you motivated to be the best you. That’s what Still Cool Right is to me, but define it for yourself.
So here we are at the end of our first podcast blog post. We have some awesome conversations on the way, but nothing would make us more drunk in love than to connect with you guys out there in internet land. Have questions about the show? Want to share a spanktacular memory of Samantha Fox or Lisa Bonet? Have some tracks from your local music scene you’d like to flash? Want to submit a story idea? Comment below. We’re all about taking candy from strangers so don’t be shy.
Stay cool friends!
XO // John-Ryan & Gavin
