Liverpool are considering making a move for Barcelona’s centre-back, Thomas Vermaelen.
According to reports in Spanish newspaper AS, we’ve even gone as far as making an offer for the 30-year-old and will go head-to-head with Roma for his services.
Of course, we are currently a bit short of numbers in the defensive department; Sakho, Gomez, and Matip are all injured, we’ve sold Jose Enrique, Kolo Toure, and Brad Smith, and Flanno looks set to move to Burnley on loan.
Belgian international Vermaelen, who is left-footed, could theoretically do a job at both centre-back and left-back.

Liverpool target moves elsewhere
It might not be a terrible idea to get him in for a few years; although he’s now moving past his peak, he’s vastly experienced and could offer a steady on the tiller in Toure’s absence.
