Pedri Details How Close Mbappe is to Reaching Messi’s Level

Many have begun to take notice of Pedri’s promising midfield play, including Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe was so impressed with Pedri’s showing that rather than opting to ask the likes of Lionel Messi or Frenkie de Jong for their shirts following Wednesday’s Champions League fixture, the French forward instead went to the young Barca midfielder.

Pedri sees top potential in Mbappe as well. Following their Champions League return clash, the Spanish midfielder spoke to Movistar (via Sport) about Mbappe’s potential and just how close he is to potentially reaching the level of Lionel Messi.

“Mbappe has a lot of talent and a great future, but he still has a lot to improve to get to the level of Leo [Messi], for example,” Pedri said.

Mbappe still has ways to go before even reaching the world-class prowess of Messi, but the PSG star is certainly off to a good start. The French talent just recently became the youngest player ever to score 25 Champions League goals.

Mbappe will look to add to his Champions League goal tally of the remainder of this season’s knockout stage.
