Dunamis ‘celebrity’ testifier, Vera Anyim apologises for seeking accommodation help

Published

Vera Anyim, the lady who became famous following the controversy that trailed her recent testimony at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, has tendered a public apology after asking Nigerians for support to secure accommodation.

Nigerians knocked Anyim for seeking support to secure accommodation.

In a video that became viral last Thursday, Anyim who described herself as a celebrity., called on Nigerians to help her secure a new accommodation.

Reacting to her call for help, several Nigerians expressed shock at her request.

Following the backlash, Anyim has tendered a public apology, explaining that everything happened so fast and she was trying to protect herself.

“I’m sorry for seeking public support regarding my accommodation it was because I wasn’t feeling safe and the fear of being kidnapped because everyone around thought I was given plenty money from Port Harcourt and this whole thing I wasn’t ready for it. I didn’t force anyone, please forgive me,” she wrote on Facebook.

Recall that before this, the Senior Pastor of the church, Paul Enenche, interrupted Vera’s testimony of being a law graduate of the Open University of Nigeria in a viral video on social media.

Enenche tagged her testimony as a lie. This, however, did not sit well with Nigerians who demanded an apology from the pastor.

The church, however, apologised to Anyim after the public backlash.

Anyim was offered a sponsored vacation at Portland Resorts Hotel in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

However, on her return, she claimed that her residence was no longer safe.

“I want to say to Nigerians, you know this thing that happened is a thing of joy, I never dreamed of it, it came this moment, I never dreamed of being a celebrity.

“It just came all of a sudden. I never prepared for it. I want to use this medium to urge us to assist me with accommodation because I am not buoyant now to rent a house. Where I am staying now is risky and insecure. It is a very open place and everybody already knows I am a celebrity.

“When I left Abuja, some people in my compound didn’t know what was happening, but I was there, and so many of them heard what was going on. Some have said they are waiting for me. My brother, who stays with me, told me that people gathered, all waiting for me,” she stressed.

Joseph Aloba, father to the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad, was on Monday grilled by officers of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Alagbon in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State over a petition filed by Oba Saheed Elegushi.

The head of the Aloba legal team, Monisola Odumosu, in a statement on Tuesday, said the petition borders on cyberbullying, cyberstalking, and criminal defamation.

Odumosu explained that the allegation came on the heels of an interview granted by Aloba recently.

The statement read in part, “Mr Aloba was invited by the police and led to the police station by the representatives of his legal team, Teri Wellington and Monisola Odumosu. The petition was written by Oba Saheed Elegushi who alleged that during one of Mr. Aloba’s interviews with a London-based blogger, he was criminally defamed.

“During the interview Mr. Aloba granted the London-based blogger, it was alleged that he said, ‘… his son was bullied and killed on the instruction of Oba Elegushi and that it was one Sam Larry that was sent to do the job…’”

According to the statement, Aloba reiterated that defaming or performing any act that constituted or could lead to cyberbullying and cyberstalking Oba Elegushi wasn’t his intention as he was trying to seek justice for his late son.

Odumosu added that the late singer’s father further clarified that he did not have any proof to support the allegation against the monarch except the petition written by his late son and other phone conversations he had with him.

While noting that the monarch, who was present at the meeting, demanded a retraction, Odumosu clarified that Aloba was never arrested or detained.

“In fairness to Oba Elegushi, he only demanded the retraction of the defaming statements made by Mr Aloba on social media.

“Mr. Aloba was never arrested or detained. He was granted bail without stress. It is important to note that Mr. Aloba is still grieving the death of his son. He just lost a single star in the family firmament.

“Any grieving parent may on the spur of the moment make statements that may tend to be unreasonable. We only need to understand the geographical circumstances giving rise to his utterances.”

Actor Nosa Rex kicks against claim he used Junior Pope’s death for skit

Nosa Rex, the Nollywood actor, has dismissed a claim by actress Ruby Orjiakor that he used Junior Pope’s boat mishap for a skit.

Pope passed away on April 10 after a boat accident on the River Niger in Asaba, Delta state. On May 17, he was buried in Nsukka, Igbo-Etiti LGA in Enugu state.

Last Sunday, a video where a director asked Rex to dive into a river without a life jacket at a movie set went viral.

In the footage, the actor appeared to be challenging the movie director who demanded the retrieval of a treasure inside the river.

Rex also argued that the scene was not in the script. He was later captured fighting for his life after he dived into the water.

The skit attracted criticism towards Rex with Orjiakor claiming the actor created the content to mock Pope’s death.

She also alleged that Adanma Luke, producer of the movie Pope was supposed to feature, is not remorseful about his death.

’I came to pray specifically for you super stat (Akpa Swag) Your Legacy will never be forgotten. I also want to let you know that Baba Rex your own man has started using what happened to you as content. Everybody dey find their belle, no one cares, if only you listened to me,” she wrote.

“Again, @adanmaluke instead of feeling guilty for what happened to you and others, she was busy telling the whole world how you were begging her for jobs. I believe you can now understand better how wicked the world is.

“May the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of Christ.”

Don Jazzy’s dad addresses Wizkid’s mockery of his son

Collins Enebeli Ajereh, the father of Don Jazzy, has addressed Wizkid’s recent remarks aimed at the music producer.

In April, Wizkid mocked Don Jazzy, referring to the music producer as an “influencer”.

The singer’s post attracted criticism against him on social media, with some users describing his remarks as “disrespectful”.

The Mavin Records head honcho has remained reticent about the matter; and did not respond to the ‘Ojuelegba’ hitmaker.

Don Jazzy, however, recently appreciated Wizkid for endorsing Ayra Starr’s latest album.

Ajereh was recently featured on HipTV’s Trending hosted by Kim Oprah, the reality TV star.

When asked to speak on the mockery, Don Jazzy’s dad said anyone who made such a comment about his son is entitled to their own opinion.

Ajereh said there is “no love lost”, adding that people should not make a fuss about the matter.

“I do not see why people make anything spectacular out of it,” he said.

“Whoever said what he or she said depends on the circumstance they made such comment and I wouldn’t want that to be an issue of controversy.

“There is no love lost and there is no need to see it in a different way other than what it was intended to be or what it is. We just pass it by.”
