Big Beats Records launches operation in Lagos, unveils three artistes
Big Beats Records, a new music label, has launched its operations in Lagos.
During the unveiling on Sunday in Lagos, Abimbola Hakeem, the chairman and co-founder of the music house, said the aim of the label is to invest positively in the lives of youths — particularly upcoming artistes — so they can be useful to society.
“Big Beats Records is about changing the lives of youths and we want to do it the proper way. We want to make sure that we let the world know that the youths can still come up with things legitimately and that is why we invested in it,” he said.
“We go all the way to make sure that we get good music to Nigerians and we are starting from the scratch. Our target is not just to make but also that the youths we are bringing in can be able to do something for themselves, the community and a lot of vices are put down and we will be able to form a greater community.”
At the launch, the label unveiled three newly signed artistes — Saheed ‘Sosi’ Sabih, Quadri Rasheed better known as Tyrod and Olarewaju Olamilekan called Leolexxy.
Puffy Tee, the label’s producer and consultant, said the artistes will be trained on all aspects of music making before they start releasing songs.
“As they come in, they are going to the Big beats records academy first where we groom them. As they are signed you cannot start hearing their songs immediately, we will take time to groom them on all aspect of entertainment industry, music and production so they will understand everything involved,” he said.
Hakeem also disclosed that the artistes were signed with consent of their lawyers and family members.
“We invited their family for the signing. You know the industry has turned to something else now so we told their families to come and see where they will be living and what they are signing. They have given the contract to their lawyers and they have gotten back to us so they are signing the contract with the consent of their families,” he added.
Big Beats Records is a Nigerian record label jointly owned by Hakeem and Kunle Rasheed.
It has no affiliation with Big Beat Records, Inc., the American electronic and dance music record label owned by Warner Music Group and operated through Atlantic Records.
