Halima Abubakar, the Nigerian actress, has taken to social media to appreciate the people who have been there for her amid her battle with an unknown illness.

In 2022, Abubakar announced her retirement from acting over health concerns.

The actress, however, did not reveal the nature of the ailment she is battling.

She also made allegations against Apostle Johnson Suleman, the general overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, claiming that they had dated and that her health issues stemmed from the relationship.

Suleman responded with a defamation lawsuit, which resulted in a N10 million judgement against Abubakar.

But in an Instagram post on Wednesday, the actress said it is difficult for her to share what she has been through with the public.

Halima also broke down in tears as she thanked the persons who have supported her during trying times.

She also revealed that she is “thankful for being alive”, adding that “God has saved me” — without sharing details of her ordeal.

“What I have been through only me and myself can say it. I just want to use this opportunity to thank all those people who have been there for me,” she said.

“Those ones that did not run or reject me, those that did not criticise or judge me because it can be anybody. Well I thank God that what the devil means to harm me, God used it to keep me alive so that I can see, so that I can learn, so that I can be thankful for being alive.

“What I have seen in my life is not something that I can share. My face is actually really badder than this but I just used you know filter but I am not here for pity party.

“I am just here to say God is good, God has saved me and those who I did not understand why they did not check up on me and visit me, I am very very sorry because I did not know I am not just the one with problems, everybody is dealing with one thing. I am here today to say thank you, God bless you. To those who have been there, may God enrich you.”

Teni Oluwo, the Nigerian fashion influencer and stylist fondly called Style Territory, has passed away.

Adetoke Oluwo, the stylist’s sister, confirmed her demise via a post on her Instagram page.

It is understood that Teni died on June 3 — although the cause of death was not revealed.

In the lengthy post, Adetoke described Teni as “my pillar of strength” who changed my life positively.

She also expressed grief, adding that “nobody will ever take your place in my heart”.

“Omoteniola you do this one. I thought I was a strong person but I realized you have always been my strength. My pillar of strength. How can I be talking about you in past tense. You must be out of your mind to think you can leave me like this. In this year particularly,” she wrote.

“Why didn’t you leave when we were suffering and hustling up and down in this Lagos. I’d have understood. Why now? When you should be enjoying your life. What will happen to all the trips we had planned and our life goals?

“You are the only reason I worked this hard so you’d be proud of me and so I’d take care of you to pieces as my first child. Well, I know you’re always proud of me either way.

“I used to hear of grief but Teni, you should have waited for me to get back to see you. You thought I wouldn’t be able to take it I’m sure but Teni, my heart is broken. I can’t take this. I can’t feel my heart Teni. You promised me you’d be with me forever. You said you got me for life. How dare you leave me now.

“At just 35years. You must be out of your mind. Who will guide me through life. Who will preach to me? You know I only listen to you. No wonder your last words to me were “never respond in fear”. Temi I can’t keep that promise, better pick your call. I know you don’t like calls but at least message me back and say this is a joke, you are only testing my pain. Teni my heart can’t take this, I’m not strong.

“One thing I know is you have changed my life. You came into this world for that purpose to change my life completely.

“I know you will not want me to cry anymore, I don’t even have tears left right now. I just have questions. I love you forever Omoteniola and nobody will ever take your place in my heart.”

Teni was born in 1989. She was also a writer, fashion journalist and TV producer.

Her work has been recognised globally. She also featured on Vogue Magazine.

American music producer The-Dream accused of rape, sexual battery by Channii Monroe

Terius Gesteelde-Diamant, known in the music world as The-Dream, is facing serious allegations from former protégée Chanaaz Mangroe, also known as Channii Monroe.

In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, Mangroe accuses The-Dream of rape, sexual battery, and sex trafficking, painting a picture of a manipulative and abusive relationship that began under the pretext of advancing her music career.

Mangroe claims that in 2015, The-Dream lured her with promises of stardom, only to subject her to repeated sexual assaults, physical abuse, and emotional manipulation. According to the lawsuit, he pressured her into unwanted sex, sometimes using threats and coercion, including recording an intimate encounter and threatening to share the footage.

Mangroe describes a pattern of control and abuse, including being locked in a dark room, being forced to have sex in public spaces, and enduring threats with a gun placed beside her during encounters.

The-Dream, a highly influential figure in the music industry, is known for his work with top artists like Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Mariah Carey. His contributions to hits like “Umbrella,” “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It),” and “Break My Soul” have cemented his reputation as a prolific producer and songwriter. Despite his professional success, these allegations have cast a dark shadow over his career.

In response to the allegations, The-Dream has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, calling the claims “untrue and defamatory.” He expressed deep offence and sadness over the accusations, asserting his commitment to helping others achieve their career goals without harassment.

Mangroe’s lawsuit also accuses The-Dream of sex trafficking, a claim seen in other high-profile cases, including those against Sean Combs.

This case highlights ongoing issues within the music industry, where power dynamics can lead to exploitation and abuse. Mangroe, represented by Douglas H. Wigdor and Meredith A. Firetog, hopes that her story will help others and prevent future abuse.

As the case progresses, it underscores the need for greater scrutiny and accountability in the entertainment industry, particularly regarding the treatment of women and aspiring artists. The lawsuit serves as a reminder of the dark realities that can lurk behind the glitz and glamour of the music business.
