With 2016 just starting it feels like a good time to take a look at the five artists that are set to make it big this year.
From X Factor contestants and ex boyband members going solo, to new groups, the new year is shaping up to be great for new artists and music.
1: Reggie N Bollie
The rap duo who came second on the 2015 series of X Factor are set for huge things this year, since the show ended in December they have already performed a string of sold out shows across the UK and have just signed to the management agency ‘James Grant Music’, and are set to sign a record label in the coming weeks/months. They have also confirmed a planned collaboration with their X Factor mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini this year and also revealed that Craig David and Fuse ODG have both registered an interested in working with them.
2: DNCE
The new group on the block are DNCE, the band was put together in 2015 by the former Jonas Brothers singer Joe Jonas. The mixed sex group had relative success in the US last year with their debut single ‘Cake By The Ocean’ and on new years eve the pop foursome performed on the Rockin Eve show in America. They have yet to chart in the UK but with a massive following on Twitter and fans across the globe now taking an interest in their unique sound, 2016 could be the year DNCE achieve worldwide success.
3: 4th Impact
The 4 piece girl band made up of sisters, Celina, Almira, Mylene and Irene came fifth on the 2015 series of X Factor, but the girls are set for super stardom all across the world thanks to their huge following on social media. The Philippine band are set to be signed in the next few months and have already been dubbed the next big girl group, they have over 118k followers on Twitter and a massive fan-base around the world, 2016 could be the year they set the charts alight with their feisty pop sound.
4: Aston Merrygold
Last year saw former JLS member Aston Merrygold release his debut solo single ‘Get Stupid’ the single peaked at number 28 in the UK charts. Aston was due to drop his first LP ‘Showstopper’ in October of last year but unfortunately the release date got scrapped and there has been no word as to when it will now drop, but it is set to come out later this year. The start of his solo career hasn’t been as smooth as JLS’ start but with his new album hopefully debuting this year, 2016 could be the year he makes it as a huge solo star, he certainly has what it takes, with his smooth vocals, slick dance moves and good looks, he has all the ingredients to make it right to the top.
5: Louisa Johnson
Despite having the lowest charting single for an X Factor winner, 2015 champ Louisa is tipped to become one of the biggest stars the talent show has ever discovered. Her winners single the cover of Bob Dylan’s classic ‘Forever Young’ only managed to peak at number 9 in the UK charts but this has been put down to the song not suiting the 17 year old rather than any lack of talent from the shows youngest ever winner. The pretty blonde from Essex has all the talent to make it huge and her debut album is set to be released in February this year, making it the earliest release of any X Factor winner. The talented singer is set to be a worldwide sensation and 2016 should see her rocket up the charts with her own original music.
