Infinium Robotics wins drone stock-taking job in Malaysia

Infinium Robotics, the award-winning tech start-up which recently showcased the world’s first commercial drone inventory scanning and stock-taking solution, today announced it has won a contract in Malaysia.
CEO Junyang Woon made the announcement at 4th Asia-Pacific 3PL and Supply Chain Summit here where he made a presentation on “Using Drones for Stock-taking and Cycle-counting – The Next Frontier in Inventory Management”.

Woon revealed that Infinium Robotics had last week signed a contract with Image Logistics to deploy a customised-version of its ground-breaking Infinium Scan indoor stock-taking drone system at its warehouse in Port Klang Free Zone.

He was confident the contract with Image Logistics (M) Sdn Bhd would be a start in Malaysia for Infinium Scan to help warehouse operators make a leap forward in operational efficiency and productivity while enhancing work safety and reducing cost.

Image Logistics is a well-diversified total logistics provider of integrated freight, forwarding, customs clearance, high-tech warehousing, inter-state transportation throughout Peninsular Malaysia and container haulage services.

The 10-year-old company is a niche logistics solution provider in travel retails and duty-free channel segment and specialises in servicing customers in duty-free and travel retail sector.
Its Group Managing Director R. Partiban explained that the customers he served had zero tolerance for inventory errors due to the high-value of the goods involved.

“We are happy to learn of Infinium Scan’s capabilities and immediately appointed Woon’s team to customise a solution for us. We wanted to be able to complete our stock-taking exercises in a quicker, safer and more cost-effective manner. What used to take days can now be done in hours once the system is configured and set up,” he said.

Specifically designed to solve slow stock checking turnover in a warehouse environment, Infinium Scan’s drone solution enables businesses to achieve intra-day stock resolution.
Risk of pilferage is reduced as the system does not allow any external intervention. This solution allows the stock-taking procedure to be run in a safe, accurate, and efficient manner.
In September, Infinium Robotics had completed the world’s first commercial showcase of a flying inventory scanning and stock-taking solution at the Singapore hub of Bolloré Logistics, a global leader in international transport and logistics.

“We’ve been working on Infinium Scan for the past three years and with our successful commercial trial with Bollore in Singapore, we are happy to see Infinium Scan being deployed at Image Logistics in Malaysia,” Woon said.
He added that his company was in close talks with several logistics players in Singapore and other parts of the world to deploy Infinium Scan in warehouses of various sizes and configurations.

Delving into the details of Infinium Scan, Woon said, “Infinium Scan allows warehouse operators to reliably track, manage and optimize their inventories in real-time, and at significantly reduced operational costs. The Infinium Scan solution, improves everything from worker safety, which is often put at risk due to the sheer height of warehouse racks, to the productivity of warehouses in today’s 24/7 fulfilment environment.”

Infinium Robotics’ Infinium Scan solution was recently awarded for having the most innovative solution (“Most Valued Future Idea”) for next generation warehouse technology, at an event organised by global logistics leader DHL Group in Singapore called “DHL Innovation Day” in March.

Infinium Robotics won the popular vote from over 140 participants, including DHL clients. Riding on the momentum, Infinium then closed a pre-Series A funding round of S$1million, which made the Infinium Scan roll-out possible.

“We believe that robotics is the next wave of technology enabler, poised to further improve the productivity and profitability of businesses,” Woon said.

“Infinium Scan is a clear example of this. We would like to thank Image Logistics for this partnership. It has been an exciting journey, and now, we’ve made it to Malaysia. ”
