OONI CELEBRATES EID FITRI WITH MUSLIMS, SUES FOR RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE, PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE

Arole Oduduwa and Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II has felicitated with the Muslim faithfuls in Africa on the completion of fasting period of month of 2018 Ramadan, urging them to imbibe the spirit of religious tolerance to be able to harmoniously coexist with adherents of other religious faiths.

 

Ooni Ogunwusi in a Ramadan message through a press statement released on Thursday night by his Director of Media and Public Affairs, Comrade Moses Olafare regards the Ramadan a month of purity and faithfulness for the Muslims all over the world, admonishing them to henceforth abstain from any act of ungodliness.

 

“These are my heartfelt greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters in Yorubaland, across the continent of Africa and all over the world. I fervently believe you all have fulfilled the spiritual obligations attached to the holy Ramadan and come out with renewed spiritual energy, purified heart of kindness and forgiveness.

 

You must rededicate yourselves to the service of Almighty Allah and humanity. Purify your souls, repent on your wrongdoings, observe self-sacrifices and devote your attentions to ensuring peaceful coexistence with members of other religious sects as all human beings serve one single God”. Ooni Ogunwusi concluded.

 

The Spiritual leader of Yorubaland is currently on a 2 week peace and unity visit to Brazil accompanied by an entourage of about hundred people including 17 notable Yoruba traditional rulers drawn from the Nigeria’s southwest states and Kwara, scholars, priests, members of Herbal Therapy Society Of Nigeria led by Chief Akintunde Ayeni.

Killing of soldiers:fish out the killers in your state, prophet Ikuru tells Otti

The prophetic hall of fame, prophet Godwin Ikuru of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry has denounced and criticised the nefarious acts of IPOB which led to the killing of five soldiers in Abia state yesterday.

The prophet who was visibly angry with the killing of the soldiers, called upon the governor of the state,Dr Alex Otti to caution his people “the president is for peace and prosperity, that’s why he brought the Renewed Hope Agenda,why kill soldiers who are on national duties, serving the nation,those soldiers are not aliens,they are Nigerians,they are husbands, fathers,sons, family members to some people,why kill them like chicken,its very pathetic”.

The maintained that the governor need to bring out those that committed the heinous crime”governor Alex Otti need to fish out those that committed this heinous crime,it’s a crime against humanity,God is against shedding of blood,the Renewed Hope Agenda of the president is against it,so those that committed this crime in the name of enforcing sit -at -home in the East must pay dearly for what they have done”.

Inauguration Day: Tinubu is on “rescue mission” please give him your support -prophet Ikuru

The prophetic hall of fame, prophet Godwin Ikuru of Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry has congratulated the president of the federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu as he marks one year in office today.

It can vividly be recalled that prophet Ikuru was the major prophet, the most vocal and precise that prognosticated that Bola Ahmed Tinubu will become the president of Nigeria “I’m very glad to see the president Mark one year in office,it was indeed a hard fought battle for him,from the election tribunal to the supreme court and all round challenges that the president faced , it’s really worth thanking God because God placed him there,without God,he wouldn’t have been there”

He defended the policies of the president by saying that they were meant for the betterment of the nation”Nigerians must realise that the president came on a rescue mission,he had to make some tough policies to be able to fix things that will later be to the betterment of Nigerians, let’s give him our support because he’s not there to embezzle, he’s there to work for you and I, let’s be patient with him because Nigeria will surely get better in his regime ”

Groups Urge National Assembly To Consider Women Inclusion, LG Autonomy, State Policing In Constitution Review

The national assembly has been urged to consider strategic economic transformation roadmaps, state policing, and women inclusion in politics as critical flashpoints of the constitution review exercise.

Consultants to the House of Representatives Committee on constitution review while presenting the harmonized reports from the 305 memoranda submitted to the house by Nigerians spotlighted issues bordering on economic growth and political leadership of the nation.

The report emphasized the imperativeness of social and economic laws that will enhance the welfare of Nigerians and reposition the nation for positive development.

Presenting the report to the committee, the Consultant on Election Matters, Dr. Samson Osagie highlighted the independence of oversight institutions and agencies, consideration of state policing,  providing seat reservation for women in the national and state assemblies, indigenship, citizenship, provision for advisory role  of traditional rulers, local government autonomy among others as issues for consideration.

Similarly, the Director of Research and Development of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, Dr. Olusegun Omisakin revealed that the nation’s economy  is dominated by the nonproductive sector, which represents 50% of the population, leading to the collapse  of infrastructure and social sectors.

Dr. Omisakin proposed stabilization, consolidation, and acceleration as economic roadmaps that would facilitate growth and boost economic transformation.

Also speaking, the Deputy House Leader, RT. Hon. Abdullahi Halims attributed the nation’s economic downturn to insecurity and called for a constitutional provision for the prohibition of open grazing by the National Assembly.

In the same vein,  the Vice Chairman House Committee on Constitution Review, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere stated that faulty political structures and systems that produce leaders of the nation contribute significantly to the current social  and economic realities of the country.

In a remark, the Chairman Conference of State Speakers, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, while emphasizing key areas of interest, expressed optimism in the collaborative efforts of the states and national assemblies in actualising the objective of the review exercise.

The Governor of Akwa Ibom state, His Excellency Pastor Umo Eno, represented by his deputy, Sen. Akon Eyakenyi lamented the lack of willingness by Nigerians to accept the constitution as the people’s document, and assured the committee of his support in achieving its set goals.

Earlier in an address, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Chairman Committee on constitution review, RT. Hon. Benjamin Kalu assured Nigerians that the constitution review will enhance economic outcomes by modernizing legal frameworks, increasing institutional capacity, addressing emerging economic challenges, as well as facilitate  the inclusive development of the nation

In a goodwill message, Nigeria’s Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, urged the participants to ensure that the outcome of the exercise reflects the diverse perspective as well as the voice of the Nigerians.

Other dignitaries present were Speaker of  Guinea Bissau, Domingos Pereira, and Senator Saliu Mustapha of Kwara state, Senator Amos Yohanna of Adamawa, and Senator Diket Plang of Plateau state, Speaker Akwa Ibom state assembly, Hon. Udeme Otong, consultants, among other notable personalities.
