Inspecter 7’s sophomore release, Banished To Bogeyland , shows an amazing amount of growth for the Jersey ska heroes. Part of this can be attributed to the fact that this record is much better produced (thanks to Mephiskapheles trombonist Greg Robinson, who also played on the record) than their previous record, …The Infamous , but it’s mostly the result of a lot of hard time on the road, refining their sound. The result is a record that’s a tremendous improvement over their debut record, especially in the vocal delivery of Giuseppe Mancini and T. Dog the Sinister Minister. Highlights include “Regret II,” the classic “Train Song,” “Afro-Blue,” “Quick Work,” “Skoochie’s Ruin,” and “Reshape,” while the Oi!-flavored “Junior Guzzler” shows the influence of touring with the Business and the Skoidats (extensively, in the case of the latter). If you liked their first record, you should love this one!
