Fir Trees Toppled by Hustler Fellers

Paradise beckoned for the Hustlers as they started their season at the Adam and Eve. First leg got off to a resounding start with a 14 spare by Lofty and a slightly less impressive 9 spare by Neil, but it was Lloyd who took the honours with a top score of 47, giving Hustlers a commanding lead of 24 pins.

Second leg had an after-the-Lord-Mayor’s-Show look about it but Pete, Rich and Chris still managed to extend the lead to 30 pins at the halfway stage.

Onto the third leg and, despite a spare from Steve and some consistent scoring by Andy, all three Fir Trees players managed scores in the 40s, for which they were rewarded by a deficit-reducing 5 pins.

Onto the last leg and despite a valiant 57 by Fir Trees’ anchor man Barry (no relation to our Brazilian beaver), Hustlers remained steady and, with Gary and Rob both scoring 50s, even managed to increase the lead at the end.

The fun ends next week when we return to the Suffolk for our first home game of the season.
