Man allegedly impregnates 13-year-old daughter in Edo
Moses Friday will have to prove his innocence after landing in police custody for allegedly impregnating his 13-year-old daughter.
Friday’s daughter, Precious, has told the police he had been sexually abusing her since she was little. In fact, police say he had been engaging in the act since Precious was 7.
Reports say the 35-year-old Cross River native had been driven out of Ologbo community in Edo state where he lived, after it was discovered that he was sleeping with his daughter. The people of the community later reported Friday to the police when they discovered Precious was pregnant.
The girl, a primary six pupil in Ikpoba, told newsmen when Friday was paraded by the police in Edo on Wednesday, that the man she calls father threatened to cut her with machete if she refused his advances.
“My father slept with me five times. He started when I was very small. He started by touching my waist. When I said no, he said if I shout he will use cutlass to kill me,” she said.
“Some neighbours saw me and took me to the community leader in our area at Okha, where they asked me what happened to my stomach. I didn’t know what they were saying.
“They asked me when I last saw my menstrual period. I didn’t understand what they are talking about, until the police told me I am pregnant and asked me who did it. I told them my father sleeps with me at night.”
Friday, however, denied the allegations. He said he had a girlfriend and Precious was only telling a lie.
“I have a girlfriend,” he claimed. “But when people came to my house and beat me up, claiming I was going out with a married woman, I abandoned her. I did not impregnate her, but take it the way she said it.”
Precious, reports say, had been living with her father since she lost her mother five years ago.
